ENERGY EDGE
Surplus first
Each node runs on midday rooftop solar that would otherwise be exported for a few cents. It soaks up the duck curve's belly instead of adding to the evening peak.
Data centres went big and central. We go small and everywhere. Vayu Grids runs GPUs on spare solar in homes and businesses, so builders get low-cost compute, and hosts get paid for sunshine they’d otherwise export for a few cents.
OPEN MODELS AND WORKLOADS THAT FIT ON AN A100 40GB
For homeowners with solar
We install and own a small compute node at your place, at no cost to you. You earn far more for your spare solar than the grid pays, and your power bill never goes up.
Estimate for a NSW home with 6.6 kW of solar: 6 sun-hours a day on average, GPUs rented 80% of those hours, 0.33 kW per GPU. Not an offer.

We prove each part of the model in real Sydney homes before we grow. Every stage has a test it must pass before the next one starts.
One test node in Sydney. It shows the GPUs stay cool on the hottest afternoons, earn real rental income, and follow live power prices.
Passes when the node runs reliably and three compute buyers sign letters of intent.
Ten solar homes across Sydney, each installed in a day. Hosts are paid from the first month, and we check every number in our model against real bills.
Passes when hosts are paid as promised and two compute buyers sign paying contracts.
Routine installs with an accredited partner, and a trial with the local electricity network to soak up solar when the grid asks for it.
Passes when installs are routine and signed compute contracts cover the fleet.
WHAT WE'LL MEASURE IN EVERY HOME
Kilowatt-hours of midday solar the node uses that would otherwise be exported or curtailed.
Dollars per home per year, next to what the feed-in tariff would have paid.
Cabinet temperature, throttling and node availability through a Sydney summer.
How fast the fleet ramps up at midday and steps back for the evening peak.
Sydney homes with rooftop solar. No cost to join, and you can leave at any time.
How it works
Every node reports its solar surplus, power price and temperature. The scheduler sends each job to wherever power is cheapest right now: spare sunshine first, off-peak grid power next. In the evening peak, nodes throttle down.
Firm, Reserved or Solar. The window tells us how long the work can wait for cheap power.
It weighs each node's sunshine, power price, heat and link quality, then places the work.
Jobs checkpoint as they run. When a cloud rolls over one suburb, work shifts to a sunnier one.
The network
Homes build the network and the story. Commercial roofs bring the best margins soonest. Energy producers turn stranded megawatts into a product.
Two to four retired A100s in a ventilated cabinet in a spare room, garage or laundry. The household is paid for the solar the GPUs use.
Shopping centres, warehouses and offices with large roofs that keep generating after hours and on weekends.
Containerised nodes at solar and wind farms facing curtailment, and at sites with energy that can't reach market.
Why it's cheaper
A new data centre has to buy land, build a shell, install chillers and wait years for a grid connection. Vayu skips all four. Our nodes use energy that is already being made, in buildings that already exist.

ENERGY EDGE
A home node draws about 1 to 1.5 kW behind an existing meter. NSW's new large-load rules start at 5 MW. No new connection, no new poles and wires, no years in a queue.
COST EDGE
Retired A100s still run today's open models well. Vayu gives data-centre cards a second working life, close to where the power is.
COST EDGE
Air-cooled cabinets in homes and plant rooms, installed in a day. No land to buy, no building to construct and no cooling water.

| Window | When it runs | Typical work | Price / GPU-hr | vs marketplace |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Firm | Starts now, runs to the end on any node, any hour | Live inference, agents, chat | US$0.65 | About the same |
| Reserved | A fixed monthly block of hours on a 12-month contract | Steady inference, fine-tuning programs | US$0.55 | ~10% less |
| Solar | Finishes within 24 hours, runs while a node's sun is up | Batch inference, embeddings, evals, synthetic data | US$0.35 | ~45% less |
Compared with the October 2026 median A100 40GB price on the Vast.ai marketplace, US$0.62 an hour (Thunder Compute). AWS and Google Cloud charge US$2.74–3.67. Final prices are set per contract.
What we believe
Australian homes have taken up rooftop solar faster than almost anywhere on earth. On sunny afternoons, so much floods the grid that prices go negative and farms switch off. That energy is not a problem to manage. It is some of the cheapest energy AI will ever get.
Like the wind it is named for, Vayu's job is to carry: to move the work to the power, not the power to the work. Thousands of small nodes, one scheduler, and households who share in what their roofs earn. We start in Sydney, and we're building it to work anywhere the sun shines or the wind blows.

Vayu Grids owns and insures everything we install. If you want out, we remove it and patch up any marks. There is no upfront cost and no exit fee.
Solar homes come first, because spare sunshine is the cheapest power we can buy. We may add homes without solar later, where cheap off-peak power makes the numbers work.
Nodes sit in a vented, filtered cabinet with fans, sized for Sydney summers. On very hot afternoons the software throttles the GPUs down before they get anywhere near their limits.
The node brings its own connection: business fibre where it is available, and Starlink where it isn't. Batch work copes well with satellite links, so poor fibre doesn't rule a home out.
Customer jobs run in isolated, encrypted containers, separate from your home network. Your household AI runs on its own slice of the GPU, so your prompts and files stay at home.
Solar-window jobs wait for sunshine somewhere on the network, within their 24-hour window. Firm and Reserved work keeps running on off-peak grid power, which Vayu pays for in full.
Each node is one small part of a fleet. Jobs checkpoint as they run, and the scheduler moves work if a node drops out. Reserved customers get a fleet-level guarantee, not a promise about any single home.
